Fresh Air Purifiers: Cleaner Air Indoors
Many of our distant ancestors ate healthier food and breathed cleaner air than we do. At the same time if we were given the possibility of moving back in time, probably most of us would rather stay where we are. We live more comfortably and our chances of surviving even a serious illness are much greater than in the past. But why can't we have the best of both worlds? Why not enjoy the comforts of modern life and live in a clean environment? Fresh air purifiers can bring us significantly closer to this ambitious goal.
It probably wouldn't be a surprise to most people in our days to hear that the air we breathe is polluted. You know that too. Every time I approach Los Angeles I am reminded about the pollution by the vivid smog resting on the bottom of the valley. I often think: “Is there anywhere that the air pollution is worse than here?” The answer is: Yes, all you need to do is go inside a home. Studies have shown that the air indoors is usually at least a few times more contaminated than outside.
Have you ever thought how much time you spend indoors versus outdoors? I am an outdoor person. I love hiking and I even try to do some of my work outside (I believe this is what laptops were invented for). But I still sleep inside, spend hours every day in the home and in my office. When the cold months come I admit that there are days when I am outside less than an hour.
That is just me, but what about the majority of people? Statistics show that people spend on average 90 percent of their time indoors, where the air is a few times more contaminated than outside.
Why is this important? Because this means that reducing or eliminating harmful substances from your apartment or house's air will significantly improve the quality of your life.
Fresh air purifiers remove dust, pollen, mold spores and many other substances that are hazardous to our health. Different technologies are used to accomplish it. The most obvious is the use of filters. Professional filters remove as much as 99.97 percent of 0.3 micrometer particles.
My grandma always liked to pull back blinds and curtains on sunny days. I always thought she just enjoyed the sun but now I know that the sunlight does much more than uplift our spirits. It contains ultra violet which sterilizes the air and kills micro-organism. Some fresh air purifiers pump the air from the room through a chamber which contains a UV lamp. It's a great way to sterilize the air we breathe.
There are also devices which use activated carbon that turn contaminated gases into solids. Still others utilize an advanced HEPA filter to clean the air. Whichever type of technique they use fresh air purifiers can rid your home or office of contaminants and allow you to get a breath of fresh air.
